If you remember a couple posts back I blogged about our disastrous birthday cake trial (Check it out here). After the first attempt, I decided to ask around and got great advice from my cousin Holly. (This gal knows how to do cakes! If you ever need a beautiful cake for a special occasion, she's your girl!) A new fondant recipe and new cake pans made a world of a difference for our run #2!
No cake was lost while extracting it from the cake pan!
Cutting a perfect square into 2 (almost perfect) rectangles is a breeze,
making my goal for layering a success!
Next comes the dirty ice...
and voila! Look how nicely rectangular that looks!!!
Marshmallow fondant...rolls out great & taste delicious too!
No cracks this time!!
By the time I got the fondant on the cake I was tired and went to bed.
Ryan thought it sounded fun to do the decorating so he stayed up late to finish the cake.
One of the many things I love about my husband is that he is so creative,
and normally his projects turn out GREAT! Cake practicing take 2
turned out SO MUCH BETTER than trial run 1! It now seemed possible
to make that cool cake we found online for Leo's birthday party!
Our attempt at a family picture. Leo was having none of it!
Homemade ice cream & cake...mmmmm!
Leo finally conquered his fear of the "tunnel!" YAY!!
The dynamics of our get-togethers has changed drastically in the last year and a half!
Love this post, your cake, and our friends :) and congrats on conquering the tunnel, Leo!!
